Anniversary of David Chichkan’s death

On 10 August 2025, an anarchist, artist, activist, our friend and comrade, Davyd Chychkan, was killed on the front line. We urge you to share your memories of him. Remember DavYd, his views and his struggle; read his interviews and look at his paintings.
‘I don’t think people will remember me. That’s not something I set out to achieve. I’ve chosen anarcho-syndicalism; let me be remembered as one of those who chose anarcho-syndicalism. This identity is far more important to me than who I am — an artist or an illustrator.’ Davyd Chychkan
‘Davyd was the sort of person you might find in stories about anarchists from the first half of the 20th century. He was politically astute, honest, consistent, sincere, compassionate, sociable, talented, and had a subtle sense of humour. He built his entire life around the idea of creating a better society through grassroots direct action, prioritising this over personal well-being or ambition. But he was also a real person, a true friend, a loving husband and father. And most importantly — an interesting, intellectual, and well-read conversationalist.’ Lesyk, Davyd’s comrade
‘Davyd did not merely proclaim his values, he consistently put them into practice and fought for them at every stage of his life, eventually paying the ultimate price for doing so.’ Hanna Tsiba, Davyd’s widow
It is important for us to preserve his legacy — both cultural and political.
To preserve it as carefully and honestly as he himself worked with the memory of the anti-authoritarians who fought, his fallen comrades, and the movement of which he was a part.
