2.5 years in solitary
November 1, 2025

On November 1, Denys Matsola turns 38. Sadly, this will be the fourth birthday he spends in a Russian prison.
Denys has been held in a solitary cell in Kineshma for 2.5 years. He is kept isolated, under harsh conditions: books are rarely provided, so he has to reread the same ones. He’s taken out of the cell infrequently — about once a week for a bath and occasionally for short walks.
🔹 Important (update): it’s known that letters do get through to Kineshma. The chance that Denys will receive your words is small — but it exists.
✉️ Write letters.
Even if you’re unsure whether they’ll reach him — they leave a trace and remind him that he’s not forgotten.
